The Association des Amis du Vieux La Ciotat which manages this museum since 1941, has managed, day after day, to preserve memories from the past in order to present them to the public. Counting 15 exhibition rooms and over 1500 exhibited objects, the Ciotaden Museum allows visitors to discover the city's cultural heritage in all its forms – religious, traditional, economic – and of course everything that has to do with the former shipyards, the invention of cinema, and petanque.
